Roller Welding

Roller welding is based on the principle of GLOBO welding. However, the glass roller is not supported by air bearings, but by ball bearings, either on one side or on both sides.

It serves both as a press-on tool and as the final optical element. In contrast to GLOBO welding, roll welding consists of a linear laser beam focused behind the glass roll. A strong weld seam is achieved with this welding concept. However, the applications are limited to linear applications.

Characteristics and application:

  • Linear joining geometry in two dimensions
  • Welding without clamping device
  • optimum synchronisation of contact pressure and energy input
  • suitable for robot use
