Arcobalegno chooses Leister for the finishing of their frames
Arcobalegno is a company based in Pianiga, near Venice, specialized in the production of wooden treated and painted frames and profiles. This is a segment in which the possibilities of standardization are limited, since they are typically tailor-made products, but a certain degree of automation is possible.

In particular, during the finishing phase, foils of different colours and motifs are applied to the raw wood frames, which will give the product its characteristic appearance. These are heat-sensitive materials: in order to be applied correctly without defects, they require that the wood would be brought to a precise temperature and kept constant.
The heating given by the wheel is not ideal in this sense, as it can lead to too high temperatures and consequent imbalances: for some time Arcobalegno had therefore switched to the use of hot air heaters, but the operators were not completely satisfied. "The hot air guns we used previously did not guarantee a constant temperature, with consequent episodes of overheating: when this happens the foil does not adhere correctly, it forms "bubbles" and at that point the article is difficult to recover," explains Silvio Benvenuti, production manager.
In addition to the operating problems, there was also the short life of the tools, which hardly lasted a year before presenting malfunctions, such as to make it more appropriate the replacement rather than the repair.
