Arcobalegno chooses Leister for the finishing of their frames

Arcobalegno is a company based in Pianiga, near Venice, specialized in the production of wooden treated and painted frames and profiles. This is a segment in which the possibilities of standardization are limited, since they are typically tailor-made products, but a certain degree of automation is possible.

Arcobalegno uses machinery that allows efficient production, without detracting from the quality of the end product and the possibilities of customization.

In particular, during the finishing phase, foils of different colours and motifs are applied to the raw wood frames, which will give the product its characteristic appearance. These are heat-sensitive materials: in order to be applied correctly without defects, they require that the wood would be brought to a precise temperature and kept constant.

The heating given by the wheel is not ideal in this sense, as it can lead to too high temperatures and consequent imbalances: for some time Arcobalegno had therefore switched to the use of hot air heaters, but the operators were not completely satisfied. "The hot air guns we used previously did not guarantee a constant temperature, with consequent episodes of overheating: when this happens the foil does not adhere correctly, it forms "bubbles" and at that point the article is difficult to recover," explains Silvio Benvenuti, production manager.

In addition to the operating problems, there was also the short life of the tools, which hardly lasted a year before presenting malfunctions, such as to make it more appropriate the replacement rather than the repair.

MISTRAL: THE WINNING CHOICE

A decision was made to invest in more professional solutions: the choice could only fall on Leister, a company with an undisputed reputation in the field of hot air appliances.

Efficient and clean, the hot air does not cause dust to deposit on the frames - on the contrary, it tends to remove it, which is always appropriate, even if in the final stage of production the presence of chips or sawdust is limited. Arcobalegno found it easy to find one's way around the wide range of Leister heaters thanks to the assistance of its technical and sales staff, who once they understood the company's needs, were able to advise with confidence on the best solution: MISTRAL 6.

One of Leister's best-known and most popular solutions, MISTRAL is a heater designed specifically for continuous use. It is able to bring heat exactly where it is needed in the industrial process, with the need for mechanical or electrical support reduced to a minimum. MISTRAL can heat the air up to 650° with a hot air flow of up to 4000 litres per minute. In the SYSTEM version, the control of the temperature and the hot air flow is possible by using the PLC of the heater itself or of the system in which it is installed: the control is very simple and the guarantee of repeatability is absolute.

Thanks to the brushless motor, MISTRAL also has the obvious advantage of a much longer life and practically no need for maintenance, given the absence of brushes.

The use of MISTRAL has brought about a considerable improvement in the efficiency of production for Arcobalegno: installed on a machine that works continuously, it guarantees a temperature that is perfectly in line with that required and constant throughout the entire production process. "The cases of defects in the application of the foil have been eliminated; moreover, after two years of use, MISTRAL is still working perfectly and has not needed any particular maintenance," explains Silvio Benvenuti.

The purchase of MISTRAL, even though it is an investment that the company has considered more than the previous hot air guns, is quickly proving to be a winning choice.

Arcobalegno joins the list of successful companies that have chosen Leister, by finding a partner that shares the utmost attention to quality and that knows how to respond fully to customer needs in this regard.
