Welding Roofing Membranes with Leister Quality System

On November 18 and 19, 2020, Leister’s roofing expert, Roland Beeler, and Leister’s sales manager, Vadim Shostik, took part in the International Conference on Welding of Polymeric Materials 2020.

On the second day of the online conference, the two Leister experts informed approximately 200 participants about the Leister Quality System (LQS for short) and how it will dramatically improve the way roofers weld membranes. Why LQS Has Been Added: Leister will launch the UNIROOF 700 (with LQS) in the second quarter of 2021. (The UNIROOF 700 is an updated version of the popular UNIROOF AT/ST automatic welder). With the UNIROOF 700, it’s possible to precisely record the welding parameters and the location of the weld via LQS, so that the corresponding data is precisely documented in a report, which is available as a PDF. The parameters can be saved via the myLeister app so that they can be recalled for other, similar welding projects.

Enthusiasm About LQS Technology

Participants from all over Russia were enthusiastic about Roland and Vadim's presentation because Leister's LQS technology is very advanced and promising for roofing applications.

In addition, Vadim translated during Roland's lecture since many visitors did not speak the same language as Roland. Vadim had even translated the PowerPoint presentation into Russian and Cyrillic beforehand, which proved very helpful at the conference. All participants appreciated Vadim’s efforts to translate information and questions back and forth between Roland and the participants.

Interesting Facts About Plastic Welding

During the two-day conference, the participants learned a lot of interesting facts about welding polymer materials from international equipment manufacturers and Russian, governmental and non-governmental testing and standardization bodies.

Roland and Vadim are very happy about all the interest generated from this event. They agreed to attend this important conference every year from now on in order to provide technological updates from Leister. The Russian Association of Welders of Polymeric Materials (ASPM) was founded on the initiative of leading specialists in the polymer industry and with the support of the National Agency for Welding Control and TC 364 "Welding and Allied Processes". The construction industry is continuously evolving and the use of polymer materials is significantly increasing year over year. New types of polymers, new pipe designs, new approaches to welding polymer materials and new ways to build and reconstruct various systems are constantly emerging. These developments require the timely publication of new regulatory documents. The focus is on regulations for installing pipelines, professional welding, quality control of the welds or the welded plastic joints, as well as testing and commissioning.

Since 2015, the LQS on Leister’s GEOSTAR G5/G7 and TWINNY T5/T7 automatic welding machines has proven itself in civil engineering with its quality documentation during geomembrane installations.
