Every day, all over the world, millions of people consume products packaged in “gable top cartons,” the typical container with a gable-shaped top, where the upper part is folded to form a peak.

The invention of this type of packaging dates back to John Van Wormer, an American engineer, in 1915. However, its industrial development is also linked to the name of Galdino Candiotto, an entrepreneur and innovator who, in 1985, developed advanced machinery and technologies to produce and automate gable top packaging, improving the efficiency, speed, and reliability of production lines.

This led to the founding of Galdi, a pioneering company in Italy in making this technology accessible even to small local producers.

From the First Galdi Filling Machine to Becoming Number One

• final sealing, again after exposure to a controlled flow of hot air, to close the container
