In our blog post of 22 June 2020, we promised to keep you up to date on roof renovation "With Leister, at Leister, for Leister". Today, a brief interim report...

Author: Silke Landtwing, Manager Corporate Communications, Leister Switzerland

Since the end of June, the roof of the Leister headquarters in Kägiswil, Switzerland, has been undergoing renovation. Although it has been raining heavily again and again since the roofing work began, the Leister and Mathis flat roof team made surprisingly good progress in the roof renovation of our headquarters.

Removing the old insulation material

First the old insulation material had to be removed so that the new insulation could be laid.

In this picture you can see how the new sloping insulation (dark polystyrene panels) is installed. To the right is the high-performance insulation (rigid foam panels made of polyurethane, or PU for short).

July 20, 2020 - the last square meters

If we look out the window today, we see a very different picture. The last square meters of roof surface are already being insulated and sealed today.

Renovated roof window

The skylights are next. This is because the old rubber seals have become porous over time and must be replaced. First of all, countless metal covers are unscrewed, meters of sealing tape are pulled off and old rubber seals are removed. Freshly cleaned, the windows are then resealed.

What happens next

Leister roofing professional Paul Röthlin is confident that the roof renovation will be completed by the beginning of August. Once the roof is finished, it's going to be very exciting. With what? Find out in our next blog post, which will follow Leister Stories just in time for the completion of the roof renovation.
