The contracts with the electrical utility Obwalden (EWO) have already been signed. From January 1, 2022, the Leister Group will only purchase electricity from renewable energies for its three sites in the canton of Obwalden. Specifically, the share of electricity from Swiss hydroelectric power is increased to 100%.

Group CEO Martin Zingg says: “It is important to us to obtain electricity from renewable energies. We are aware of our responsibility to the environment. That is why one of our strategic goals is to operate our companies in a climate-friendly way. This also includes the economical use of natural resources. In addition, a high level of supply security is essential for our supply capability. We have a reliable, regional partnership with EWO that we build on and value very much.”

Composition of the power supply of the three locations in Obwalden

The Leister Group ensures its power supply from two solar power systems (on the roof at the headquarters in Kägiswil as well as the facade and roof of the operating building in Sarnen). From January 2022, the remaining electricity requirements of the three Swiss locations of the technology group will be 100% covered by electricity from Swiss hydroelectric power.
