Leister Germany Opens New Logistics and Service Center

Leister Technologies Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of the Swiss Leister Group, opened a new logistics and service center in Wuppertal on September 2, 2022. In addition, Leister has merged the previous locations in Hagen and Solingen in Wuppertal. Read more in this blog post.

The German subsidiary of the Swiss Leister Group opened a new logistics and service center in the Oberbarmen district of Wuppertal in August 2022. In addition, the previous sites in Hagen and Solingen were merged at the new location in Wuppertal.

Opening Ceremony in Wuppertal on September 2, 2022

On September 2, 2022, the new location of Leister Deutschland GmbH was festively opened with business partners and numerous guests from politics, business, associations and media. The program was completed by alphorn players for Swiss flair and product demonstrations.
Christiane Leister, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Leister Group, Board Member Beat Mettler as well as the Group Management, represented by Group CEO Martin Zingg and CCO Andy Meens, traveled from Switzerland to be personally present at this special event.

In his address, Wuppertal's mayor Uwe Schneidewind welcomed the company's management and employees. He said that the establishment of Leister in Wuppertal had a "high symbolic effect". "Companies located in Wuppertal are characterized by a high level of innovative strength," Schneidewind said. As an international technology leader, Leister, therefore, fits well into the local industry profile.

Two State-of-the-Art Facilities in One City

In Wuppertal, Leister has moved into two facilities with around 60 employees. Both properties were built to the highest standards of efficiency and sustainability. The headquarters are centrally located in Elberfeld am Wall, very close to the world-famous Wuppertal Suspension Railway. There, on 1.100 square meters, are offices for management, marketing, sales and accounting. The internal Leister Academy for training and further education is also housed there. As well as a showroom for products, a digital studio for online events and communication, and a laboratory where new applications for laser welding technologies are tested and developed.

In her speech, Chairperson of the Board of Directors Christiane Leister mentioned the existing talent pool due to the proximity to the University of Wuppertal and the Rhine-Ruhr science region, the good infrastructure and the proximity of well-known industrial companies.

“We deliberately chose Wuppertal because it is a traditional and industrial business location with a creative and sustainable urban strategy”, said Andreas Cellar, General Manager Leister Technologies Deutschland GmbH.

The new logistics and service center with workshop and customer reception is located in the Oberbarmen district of Wuppertal. Via the logistics center, Leister supplies the German market and the surrounding European countries with hot air devices. These are used for welding and forming thermoplastics and for drying paint.

Infrared heaters for plant engineering, laser systems for automotive production or medical technology and welding machines for plastic membranes such as roof tarpaulins or technical textiles such as advertising banners and truck tarpaulins are also part of the Leister product range.

Entertaining Program and Tour

The summer weather was particularly kind to the dignified and meaningful event. After the ceremonial speeches, alphorn sounds unusual in Wuppertal surprised the impressed guests. A goosebump moment.

Guests toured the new logistics and service center. At information booths, apprentices and employees presented various Leister high-tech products.

In addition, everyone was treated to culinary delights, magical performances and musical jazz sounds. In keeping with the summer weather, there was even an ice cream truck.
