A brand-new shrimp farm is being built in Semarang, on the north coast of the Indonesian island of Java. Production manager Febrian Adhitya and his team are in the process of finalizing the dams between the basins of the three-hectare farm. As soon as the shrimp farm is up and running, around 100 metric tons of shrimp will be produced here every year – a small but important contribution to Indonesian aquaculture, which is growing in significance worldwide.

Reliable Welding Technology for Maximum Safety

The farm’s breeding and water treatment tanks were lined with 0.5 mm thick HDPE membranes from Jempol, a leading Indonesian manufacturer of high-quality geomembranes. The company uses only locally produced HDPE resins and applies strict quality controls.

The precise double tracks of the Leister TWINNY S are impossible to miss on the construction site of the shrimp farm. With a width of 8 meters, the membrane installation requires numerous welding seams, which must be absolutely watertight to prevent loss. Jempol regularly hires out its Leister equipment to installation teams. This guarantees watertight results and minimizes the risk of leaks – a basic requirement for functioning breeding tanks.

Reliability Pays – Especially in Remote Regions

As Jempol marketing manager Yoppie Budiono explains, the shrimp farms in the remote areas of Indonesia are often huge, covering areas of up to 100 hectares. In such regions, it is particularly important to rely on high-quality membranes and reliable welding technology. “With Leister equipment, we ensure that the weld seams are watertight and that no problems arise,” he emphasizes.

Thumbs Up for Leister and Jempol

The long-term collaboration with Leister reinforces these values and provides the Indonesian aquaculture industry with a sustainable solution to the challenges of modern farming methods. “If we don't want any problems, we use Leister,” says Febrian Adhitya from Jempol. The company name Jempol means “thumbs up” in Indonesian and stands for quality and reliability in HDPE membrane production. With a clear focus on quality and efficiency, Jempol and Leister have demonstrated that sustainable solutions in aquaculture are possible – for a growing business and a secure future – a success story that impresses beyond Indonesia’s borders.
