From Houseboat Dream to Floating Reality
What sounded like a futuristic dream just a few years ago is now a reality on Belgian waters. Lakelife, a Belgian company, specializes in building innovative, high-end houseboats. Their vision: stylish, comfortable living—directly on the water.
But before a floating home can take shape, it needs a stable foundation. That’s where Collinet, an experienced specialist in plastic solutions, comes in. The company designed the floats that form the structural base of each houseboat. The construction rests on six floating elements made of HDPE, each measuring 80 centimeters in diameter and twelve meters in length. These elements are welded together and assembled into three modules, each consisting of two floats. Lightweight, robust, and corrosion-resistant, these floating elements provide a sustainable, easy-to-implement solution. “The floating bodies form the foundation of every houseboat. Their quality is crucial for the safety and longevity of our projects,” emphasizes Ahmed Soghar of Collinet.
