In the picturesque setting of Innsbruck, Tyrol, roofers and facade builders from all over the world met in mid-November for the 29th World Championship of Young Roofers and the 72nd IFD Congress. The event, organized by the IFD World Association, not only set the stage for the international competition, but also provided an excellent platform for networking and the exchange of expertise.

Leister, as a leading supplier of plastic welding and hot air solutions, played a central role in this exciting event. Leister supported the young professionals through its sponsorship and the use of its innovative tools.

Exciting competitions and strong performances

In the disciplines of facade, flat roof, pitched roof and metal roof, young professionals from all over the world competed against each other to demonstrate their skills. The teams from Austria, Switzerland and China fought a particularly exciting race for the top spots in the flat roof category.

Gold for Austria: The Austrian team secured first place.

Silver for Switzerland: Swiss participants Michael Murpf and Svenja Germann left quite an impression with their precision and teamwork.

Bronze for China: With its first podium finish, China demonstrated its progress, particularly in the processing of geomembranes.

The German team, represented by Nina Weber and Jana Siedle, also put in a strong performance, while the USA participated in the World Championships for the first time and gained valuable experience.

Launch day with Leister technology in action

On the first day of the competition, the focus was on the processing of plastic liners. Thanks to the reliable performance of the Leister tools with the TRIAC AT kit, the teams were able to complete their tasks with precision and efficiency. On the second day of the competition, modified Bitumen was processed for the first time using reliable hot air technology instead of open flame and gas.

Leister live on site

At the Leister stand, all visitors had the opportunity to experience the company’s latest technologies live in action. With demonstrations of the VARIMAT 700, UNIROOF 700 and UNIDRIVE 500, experts were able to witness the performance and precision of Leister tools for themselves.

Valuable contacts and international partnerships

For Leister, the event was not just a showcase for its products, but also a chance to make valuable contacts – especially with the Chinese teams, who showed impressive progress. The USA was also able to make its mark and took part in the World Championship for the first time.

The World Championship of Young Roofers and the IFD Congress once again highlighted the importance of quality, precision and international exchange in the trade. Leister is proud to be part of this important event and to support young talent worldwide.
