A Sustainable Solution for Bangkok's Waterways

In a groundbreaking initiative to tackle water pollution, the Precious Shipping PCL — the sponsor of the boat to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA); Asian Marine Services PCL— the boat’s designer and builder; and Ecomarine Co., Ltd. — the co-designer have joined forces to develop an HDPE waste collection boat. This innovative boat, designed to navigate Bangkok's intricate canal system, is a testament to the power of collaboration and cutting-edge technology.

Smart Design for Clean Water

The HDPE boat, measuring 5.65 meters in length, 3.50 meters in width, and with a draft of 0.8 meters, boasts a loading capacity of 300 kg. Its lightweight design and ability to rotate 360 degrees make it exceptionally maneuverable, while the integrated conveyor mechanism ensures efficient collection of waste and water hyacinth. This project highlights the importance of sustainable solutions in urban environments.

Leister Technology Ensures Durability

During the welding of the boat structure, the FUSION 1 and FUSION 2 extrusion welders as well as the compact TRIAC ST hot-air hand tool from Leister were used. The welding process, showcased in a video produced by Ecomarine Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Asian Marine Services PCL), emphasizes the commitment to sustainability and innovation. Watch the video here.

The first boat was officially handed over to the BMA by the Governor of Bangkok, who expressed plans to expand this system to other canals in the city. This initiative not only addresses the pressing issue of water pollution but also sets a precedent for future environmental efforts.

Positive Impact: Cleaner Waterways and Community Benefits

The successful collaboration between the BMA, Precious Shipping PCL, Asian Marine Services PCL, and Ecomarine Co., Ltd. — supported by Leister’s advanced welding technology — marks a significant step towards cleaner waterways in Bangkok. As the project expands, it promises to inspire similar initiatives worldwide and reinforces the importance of sustainable urban solutions.
